One thing I’m glad for is that, despite all of the late hours spent attempting to complete a project here or there, I’ve managed to develop a workflow that, well, works for me. The key is to discover what software works best for you, both on a program-by-program basis and in terms of your whole workflow. Something is wrong if you’re really skilled at utilizing a software tool, but it doesn’t assist you in moving quickly from concept to finished result.

I’ve attempted to keep the order in which I explain the programs below consistent with the order in which I often work.

My Personal Software Workflow

1. Sketching

I get what you’re saying. Sketching is a method rather than a software. I get what you’re saying. Most importantly, you must grasp “what I’m producing,” which is the most basic of all concepts. Finding your personal workflow can be difficult, but if you limit your search to the basic functions you require—drafting, modeling, rendering, editing, layouts, and so on—you should be able to find some combination of software that both meets your requirements and provides you with the structure you require to be successful in your endeavor.

Consistency

Consistency is another advantage you’ll acquire from your workflow. A task is more likely to be completed successfully if you are constant in your efforts to complete the work. Over time, you will develop a method of working that will teach you more sophisticated methods. As your skills improve, you’ll naturally want to learn more about the software you’re using in order to push its boundaries and fully comprehend what it can accomplish for you.
